Five reasons to like my phone - Sony Experia Pro

Sony Experia Pro

So the main reasons I like my phone is not actually that it's a decent telephone and that it's got a working camera, slick QWERTY keyboard and a sensitive touch-screen. I like it because it gives me access to other functionality over the wireless network. :-)

Worth mentioning also is that it's just the perfect size, I can fit it in my pocket and use it with one hand. There is a bundle of other useful applications I use as well, but the ones mentioned above are by far the most appreciated. :-D

Downsides? Well, it IS a tad slippery. The cover is high-shine polished plastic, hard enough to get a grip on at times. Have dropped it a few times due to this.

PS. Yes yes I know it's an old model, but you can still buy it if you hurry up. ;-)

Fancy car

It's not often I get smitten by a car, there's only been a few through the years. Starting with and remaining the number one - Saab 96 V4.
Saab 96 V4 - the one and only
First car I could afford was a Saab 96 V4 from 1971, it was actually a month older than I was. Then I upgraded to a 1976 model and finally ended up with one from 1968. The older the better! :-)

I remember thinking Hyundai Coupe (somewhere around '00) was a neat car, but that was never serious.
Then I briefly thought about getting a Chrysler PT Cruiser but decided against it when somebody told me it was "old tech" with a fancy cover (AS IF THAT WOULD REALLY MATTER??). Think I got my last new old V4 then, the one that lives in our garage now. 8-)

Chrysler PT Cruiser
Then nothing really caught my attention for a number of years, though I remember casting a glance or two at the Audi TT model however that was never serious. :-D

A few years ago a former colleague got herself a red Volvo C30 and I still think that's a really neat little thing. Wouldn't mind one at all. Only it's a bit small for two soon three kids in car-seats.

Volvo C30
Today I took the boys out for a walk to the local shop and on the way I spotted what might just become my "new" car to evoke that smitten feeling... :-D It looked just as curvy and weird as I require to tickle my design-nerv. :-) Have a look:

Nissan Juke

From the rear.
Come to think of it it's actually kind of easy to spot what makes me like a car or not. Never thought about that before.

Anyways, reality has us contemplating so-called MPV's (e.g. minivan) so neither of the above cars will become more than dreams for a considerable time (yet). 8-)

So it has begun

Expansion

I nearly didn't do it - thinking that with the new baby my game-time would dwindle further. But hey, I can't just not do it. I've stuck with it since the beginning, got to keep it around for a bit longer... :-)

Fantastic feature

Imdb.com have a feature to "Watch Trailer", I enjoy that - it's like sticking your hand in a bag of lollies (without the calories) and picking just one. I get a feel for if a film is worth putting on the watch list or not, I can watch a snippet of many movies in just a few moments.

Sometimes, naturally, you get to see too much. Quite often that's the case with classical action films. Not so often with dramas thankfully.

However Imdb.com have developed this feature to now not only display the trailer of the movie you were reading about but also "People who liked Your Sister's Sister also liked..." a whole bundle of films that are "like" the one you were interested in.
What an AWESOME feature!! :-)

I was just looking into the film above and found at least five-six more movies I really would like to watch in the "People who liked..." collection!

Awesome...! :-)

Your Sister's Sister
Sunshine Cleaning
Celeste & Jesse Forever (with one of S' favorite actors)
50/50 (Seth Rogen!)
The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel
Hope Springs
The Kids Are All Right

Captain America

We watched "Captain America: The First Avenger" last night - only backdraw with this film would be that it's overly 'american' at times. But apart from that it's a more than decent super hero story.
Big bad evil forces ("Hydra", working under the cover of WW2/the Nazi army) had to be beaten for the world to survive.

But apart from, or rather despite the 'americanism' I really enjoyed the film. It's an 'easy watch' type of film and I'd be tempted to watch it again if I was in the mood for the full storyline of "The Avengers". :-)

IMDB-link.

The Hunger Games

We watched 'The Hunger Games' the past weekend, well worth watching.
OK to watch if you have read the books, more than OK if you haven't. Naturally a film never caters to your imagination as well as a book, so that's expected.

I enjoyed it, I recommend it. :-)

Ding 79

Golly, that just happened (Glömsk dinging). Didn't expect to get back into the game enough to actually level, but I did. I did and I still managed to get slightly tanned this summer, not bad! :-D

In game companion

I definitely think WoW has taken on a softer approach, a new line of users who require softer, more life-like in game stuff... (unlike the in-game companions I carry - a skull made of smoke, a skeleton baby dragon with blue fire, a spider etc etc). :-D

Never the less, this one was kind of cute anyway. :-)

Bill Cunningham - New York

I just watched a terrific documentary about a very passionate man.
And I'm really happy I watched it too because I feel a little lifted by the experience. It doesn't happen often. :-)

Why we travel

NYTimes: Monument Valley 2011, EvaGrayzel - photo by Jeremy Cohen

Why we travel - why do we travel?
Why do you travel?

A beautiful photographic article by The New York Times:
http://www.nytimes.com/WHYWETRAVEL.html

I travel because I can. I am unbelievably fortunate to have that ability. To have the means and resources to go places. I am also happy to have the curiosity and the nerve to go. I sometimes (often?) have a need to travel, to get out of my context and restore my perspective to normal proportions.

Secret NYC subway station: City Hall

A stunningly beautiful subway station, closed to the public, can still be accessed (or rather viewed) by staying on number 6 train past its end station Brooklyn Bridge. The train makes a "loop" and passes through the closed down station on its way back to make the return journey as 6-train heading for Pelham Bay Park (?).

So many things I didn't know to look for when we visited New York last year. So many things.
Simply have to go back. :-)

No nay never

World's longest waterslide, it is called 'Insano' and you have to travel to Brazil to "enjoy" it.

Nope. Wouldn't think so.

Does New York need a commercial?

I really don't think New York need a commercial. But I certainly don't mind watching this one. :-D

Cinnamon swirls or cinnamon buns?

I just realised - cinnamon swirls, cinnamon rolls and cinnamon buns must be the same thing!

Helsinki 2005. This Finnish bun was SERIOUSLY the size of my face!
Cinnamon buns/swirls being my absolute favorite sweet bakery product I just feel that it's weird I never knew this. 8-) I guess I just learned one translation, e.g. cinnamon bun and assumed the other were variants of sweet bread with cinnamon. Silly that, considering the whole thing being of Swedish descent.

If anyone can shed light on the truth of this matter, please do let me know! :-)
For now, I believe in the truth presented by Wikipedia: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cinnamon_swirl

Misheard Lyrics - Oh Fortuna

I adore people who do this - who has the ability to "hear" what something sounds like just like that.

Another "misheard" favorite is "Amaranth" (by Nightwish) - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DWd6j5rphtg

And naturally you will have to watch these videos to really get the most out of them...

Enjoy the rain

http://sonosterra.com

Play the song just below the icons/buttons, then press the appropriate button for ambient background sound. Awesome. :-)

Or why not try www.rainymood.com and listen to their choise of music of the day to the backing sound of wet wet rain.

Not that I'd rather have the sun make us feel like it's really summer right now. But I actually don't mind the rain. It's peaceful, in a way.

Oh, another good one

Rim filled with A-list actors, a fairy tale story, very intricate language - what's there not to like? :-)

Will keep an eye out for this one - Moonrise Kingdom:

Well hello there

Suddenly felt like playing World of Warcraft again, imagine that. :-) Only just over 21 GB to download in order to play, thankfully the download was ready yesterday - all I needed to do today was revive my subscription.

Somehow Star Wars the Old Republic haven't managed to capture me. Though I have a feeling I will continue to subscribe to it because it has, by far, the coolest soundscape and story line of the two.

Perhaps they'll complete my gaming experience, the two of them? What more do you need? World of Tanks? :-D

TV must-see: Revolution - Lights Out

Ohh, this one I must see... :-)

Snow white hot this spring?

Two movies coming out this year, same story - quite different adaptations, both right up my alley, both with favorite female actors. :-)

Blast from the past

Was quickly scanning through my hotmail spam box and found this:

This was my status AT LEAST ten years ago, probably longer (as I never looked for another job until at the very end when I was trying to work out if I was going to stay or move back to Sweden). :-)

Ten years. Time flies!

Happy New 2012

I remember trying to imagine (as a child) how life would be when I was older. A positive thing in all as it meant I planned to live at least another 30 years or so. But I never actually imagined life ANYTHING like this.

I think it's a good thing.

Because I like surprises. :-) I really like not knowing exactly every detail about everything that's going on. The more life I get under my belt the more I also appreciate how insanely vast the number of optional paths are.
No levelling assistance in real life, nope. It's all down to the choices you make. There are SO many choices I have made which I have regret making and if I had been given an opportunity to change them right after they had been made I would've - and this is the important part - if I had I would NEVER have had the life I have right now.

I am so grateful for my life. Thank you 2011 and all years preceeding you. Thank you. I look forward to what 2012 will bring.
Love to all.
