A stunningly beautiful subway station, closed to the public, can still be accessed (or rather viewed) by staying on number 6 train past its end station Brooklyn Bridge. The train makes a "loop" and passes through the closed down station on its way back to make the return journey as 6-train heading for Pelham Bay Park (?).

So many things I didn't know to look for when we visited New York last year. So many things.
Simply have to go back. :-)
